This piece was designed to cover small scars on the arm with an orchid motif inspired by literati ink painting.
In traditional East Asian painting, the orchid is one of the Four Gentlemen. Rather than being valued for outward decoration, it has often symbolized quiet refinement, integrity, and a subtle fragrance that remains without needing to be loud.
For this work, I used the long flowing lines of orchid leaves and soft ink-like shading to let the existing marks blend naturally into the darker strokes and open spaces of the design.
Instead of explaining every form too directly, I wanted the piece to follow the movement of the arm and leave a calm, understated feeling of an ink orchid.
