This tattoo design is based on chickens in traditional Japanese painting, reworked into a long arm composition.
In East Asian tradition, the rooster has long been seen as an auspicious bird — one that announces the dawn and keeps harmful energy away. Peaches have also often been painted as symbols of longevity and blessings.
I wanted to bring those meanings into one scene, and compose the piece around the theme of family.
The rooster’s long tail, the flow of the peach tree, and the scene of the hen and chicks below are arranged to connect as one continuous story on the arm.
