A black-and-grey calf tattoo reworking Ilwolobongdo without the sun and moon, with five peaks, pine trees, waterfalls, and waves wrapping around the leg.
I based this piece on Ilwolobongdo, leaving out the sun and moon and keeping the five peaks, pine trees, waterfalls, and waves in a composition that wraps all the way around the calf.
My client had lived in Korea for nine years as an English teacher and chose this tattoo to commemorate their time here just before returning home to Canada. With little time left before their departure, we worked on it over three consecutive days.
It is difficult for me to imagine spending nine years of your youth in another country. Being able to complete this piece together just before they left Korea after all that time will stay with me for a long time as well.
